I Sent an Application for a Job That I Really Want
You can pray that I become an editorial assistant

I'm not sure if the term "editorial assistant" has the same meaning in French and English. In any case, I fell in love with the editorial assistant position at Ouest-France, the world's leading French-language media outlet, when I read the job offers that the woman helping me with my new life in Brittany kindly sent me.
Although most of the work involves administrative tasks, the assignments are extremely varied, which I find particularly interesting. There is also a significant editorial component. Not to mention, you get to work for a major player in French print media! The work is split between two sites in Brittany, which is an added bonus. My body and mind need more exercise than ever!
It didn't take me long to start writing my cover letter. I wrote it entirely by myself, without any non-human assistance, if you know what I mean. I attached my updated résumé to the letter, carefully sealed everything in a pretty glass bottle, and let the ocean take control of my destiny—not without emotion.
May Ægir, the god of the sea, watch over this bottle and deliver it to the HR department at Ouest-France. This afternoon, I received an email from my contact in Brittany. Do you know what she did? She emailed the editors-in-chief of the two Ouest-France offices in the Côtes d'Armor region of Brittany, as well as the two HR assistants. These were direct contacts that were inaccessible to me. She told them about our initiative and my application. I can't thank this woman enough for her help and for giving me her time. It's just wonderful!
It's been a long time since I've wanted things to fall into place for me like this. I hope it happens! If you're looking for a job or have been at some point in your life, then you probably understand what I'm going through.
When we're in a tough spot—which is where I am right now—we find ourselves applying for jobs that don't interest us at all. We do it just to pay the rent, pay the bills, and basically just to survive. So, when an exciting opportunity comes along, it awakens a new energy in us. This time, I want it to work out. I want to get that interview.
To be continued...
Are you in the same situation as me? How is your job search going? What's the hardest part for you? How do you avoid spending your day in bed listening to a Spotify playlist for depressed people? If you're employed, what excites you most when your alarm goes off in the morning? I look forward to reading your comments or messages!
Tom
Best of luck, Thomas. I hope (yes, I still hope) that you land where your heart desires most.

I sure do understand! Both my son and son in law are walking in your path, too. BEST to you.
